		<description>Are you an MEA member or what?  The whole concept of merit pay is to award pay for merit.  Your suggestion that if anyone works hard that everyone should benefit, and then calling that &quot;merit pay&quot; does nothing to get us to the situation where teachers are encouraged to try harder to do a better job of teaching our kids.  It sound like the typical union mentality of saying that if you have more money then give it to us, and if one of us is so inclined will put forth a little more effort -but don&#039;t count on it, and we certainly won&#039;t contractually agree to it.</description>
